Iridescence has profound mystical connotations spanning for centuries and across numerous cultures. It is associated with healing, protection, hope, vitality, and connection with the divine. Active visualization of iridescence surrounding my body is a healing meditation I’ve used to recover from a car crash and traumatic brain injury which upended my health, personal life, and career in architecture. Located in the main entry gallery space, this installation is designed as a blessing over visitors, infusing all who pass under it with energy that is healing and protective.
The Luminary installation features names designated by donors to The ArtsCenter, a non-profit arts education organization in Carrboro, NC. The installation is both a piece of art and a fundraiser for the new ArtsCenter building. Designed with adaptability in mind, individual “Lumens’’ can be removed and etched with donor names over time.
